SHANGHAI, Feb 18 (SMM) – Tangshan, China’s top steelmaking hub, will activate level II smog control measures from noon today February 18.
This comes after the city lifted its last round of anti-smog measures of the same scale on last Friday February 14, which was implemented on February 5.
Steelmakers and other industrial enterprises in Tangshan will have to cut production or reduce emissions under the requirements amid level II orange pollution alert, which is the second-highest in Beijing’s three-tier warning system. Trucks of national IV emission standards or below will be forbidden to transport cargoes.
The level II smog alert will remain in place until further notice.
