Tangshan has activated level II anti-smog measures

SHANGHAI, Feb 5 (SMM) – Tangshan, China’s top steelmaking hub has activated level II response to heavy pollution.

The orange anti-smog alert, which is the second-highest in Beijing’s three-tier warning system, started on 10:00 CST February 5 and will remain in place until further notice.

Another steelmaking hub in Hebei province—Handan—kicked off emergency response to heavy pollution simultaneously.

Handan Iron & Steel Group has suspended some of its sintering machines, blast furnaces, coke ovens and other facilities.

Trucks of national IV emission standards or below are forbidden to transport cargoes.
