Silicon social inventories flat on week

Some producers withheld from selling and held products within their plants amid bullish outlook on prices

SHANGHAI, Aug 16 (SMM) – Social inventories of silicon metal across Huangpu port, Kunming city, and Tianjin port remained unchanged from a week ago and stood at 62,000 mt as of Friday August 16, showed SMM data.

Cargos flew in and out of warehouses reached equilibrium as shipment departing ports weakened in mid-August from earlier of the month.

Stocks in Kunming also barely changed this week as some producers kept from selling and held products within their plants amid bullish outlook on prices.

Social inventories of lead ingots across Shanghai, Guangdong, Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Tianjin expanded 13,600 mt from last Friday July 23 to 172,600 mt as of July 30. This was up 6,500 mt from Monday July 26 and registered a new high since October 2014.
