SHANGHAI, Aug 9 (SMM) – Social inventories of silicon metal across Huangpu port, Kunming city, and Tianjin port shrank 4,000 mt from a week ago and stood at 62,000 mt as of Friday August 9, showed SMM data.
Deliveries for overseas long-term contracts lowered inventories in Huangpu and Kunming. Cargo flows at warehouses stood at levels of brisk demand season, with arrivals staying temporarily at warehouses before delivery as traders barely stockpile cargoes.
SMM expects the silicon exports to weaken in the second half of August as downstream producers across major export destinations of Japan and South Korea will begin summer break.
