SMM7, 25 July: special chemicals manufacturer 5N Plus announced on July 22 that it will increase the purchase of commercial grade bismuth metal and reduce the amount of bismuth extracted through the production of slag.
The company has been buying commercial grade bismuth to meet its needs, but has since changed its strategy to extract bismuth from a wide range of production slag rich in the metal through unique treatment technology and advanced equipment. The slag is purchased by 5N Plus from suppliers who produce large amounts of slag in the production of other metals.
This approach enables the company to significantly reduce the cost of related consumables.
However, at present, due to the reduction of profits, some suppliers have reduced the supply of this kind of slag, resulting in a gap in supply. At the same time, taking into account the price of commercial grade bismuth, the company decided to increase the purchase of commercial grade bismuth to make up for the reduction in bismuth production due to insufficient slag.
The company also promised that the change would proceed in an orderly manner and would not affect customers.
