SMM8, 20 March: the Australian subsidiary of Alcoa said in a statement on Friday that Australian trade union members continued to strike at their plants in Western Australia, which disappointed the company. Factories have contingency plans to ensure that they can continue to operate during industrial operations. So far, the company's production has not been significantly affected, and will continue to assess the strike. The company encourages employees to consider pay increases and new working conditions after 18 months of negotiations.
Its AWU businesses include Huntly and Willowdale bauxite and Kwinana, Wagerup and Pinjarra alumina refineries.
