SHANGHAI, Feb 28 (SMM) – Inspections over production safety will be conducted across Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region throughout March after the fatal mine accident.
On February 23, a shuttle bus carrying mine workers from Yinman Mining lost control down a mine shaft, which killed 22 people.
Mining and smelting firms will be particularly targeted in this round of inspections.
An industry insider in Inner Mongolia told SMM that the inspections will likely mainly affect the west of the region. Output of nickel pig iron in the west of Inner Mongolia accounted for some 70% of the total across the region in January, SMM data showed.
Another source does not expect substantial impact from this round of probes.
