China’s crude steel output grows 6.6% in 2018: NBS

China produced 76.12 million mt of crude steel in Dec, with daily average of 2.46 million mt

SHANGHAI, Jan 21 (SMM) – China produced 76.12 million mt of crude steel in December, with a daily average of 2.46 million mt, down 5.1% from November, showed data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Monday January 21.

This brought annual output of crude steel to 928.26 million mt, some 6.6% higher than 2017.

In December, output of pig iron rose 9.4% year on year and stood at 63.2 million mt and output of steel products climbed 9.1% year on year to 93.65 million mt.

For 2018, output of pig iron amounted to 771.05 million mt, up 3% from 2017, and that of steel products jumped 8.5% from 2017 to 1.11 trillion mt.
