SMM: Forecast of refined aluminium market under supply-side reform

There are four hot topics of refined aluminium market under supply-side reform, said Liu Xiaolei, chief analyst of SMM at the Die-casting Industry Chain Supply-demand Communication Summit.

SHANGHAI, Dec.8 (SMM)-There are four hot topics of refined aluminium market under supply-side reform, said Liu Xiaolei, chief aluminium analyst of SMM at the Die-casting Industry Chain Supply-demand Communication Summit organized by SMM on Dec.8.

Firstly, existing surplus market under production reduction,

Secondly, potential dropping cost of domestic aluminium companies after winter season,

Thirldly, short-term recovery of ratio between SHFE and LME Aluminium,

and finally, surplus supply at the end of 2017 and demand-supply balance in the second half of 2018.

Concerning future price tendency, she says main contract of domestic refined aluminium futures is estimated to move between 13,500-17,500 yuan per ton, main range is 14,500-16,500 yuan per ton. Spot price of domestic aluminium ingot is to move between 14,000-16,500 yuan per ton. LME Aluminium is to move between $1,850-2,250 per ton.

[SMM Aluminum Alloy Flash News] Futures side, the most-traded aluminum alloy 2604 contract opened at 23,580 yuan/mt in early trading, briefly rose to 23,670 yuan/mt, and then, affected by long position reductions, fell in waves to a low of 23,380 yuan/mt. As of the midday close, the latest price stood at 23,425 yuan/mt, down 325 yuan/mt from the previous trading day's settlement price, a decline of 1.37%. Spot side, the ADC12 market generally trended downward today, with mainstream producers mostly lowering quotes by 100 yuan/mt. Affected by the pullback in aluminum prices, cost support weakened, and enterprises adjusted quotes accordingly, but the overall extent of adjustments remained relatively restrained, with market sentiment staying cautious.
