Norsk Hydro Warns Risk of Short Supply of Brazil Bauxite

Norway aluminum producer Norsk Hydro warns risk of short supply of Brazil bauxite.

SHANGHAI, Sept. 25 (SMM) –On Sept 25th, Norway aluminum producer Norsk Hydro warns risk of short supply of Brazil bauxite.

Mineracao Rio do Norte(MRN) has some problems in bauxite tailing disposal system, because of the dry weather and lack of water.

“Having released a notification of force majeure to bauxite clients”, Norsk Hydro says in a report.

The MRN bauxite output will reduce by 2 million tons in 2017, which was expected to be 17-17.5 million tons previously.

MRN is one of the largest bauxite mines in the world, whose annual scheduled production is 18 million tons.

Brazil is the world’s third largest bauxite producer, behind Australia and China.
