Mills in Taiwan continued to abstain from buying as importers of ISRI grade scrap refused to meet bids put out by local steel producers.
Prices in Turkey remain high, keeping offer levels well above what the mills are currently prepared to pay. A limited number of deals have been concluded as mills are standing firm in what they are asking for.
The index for HMS 1&2 80:20 imports fell $5 a ton on the week to $250 a ton. Oversupply of steel products in China is weighing on sentiment, impacting prices across the ferrous complex. The short-term outlook from market players in Taiwan remains bearish.
