SHANGHAI, Mar. 15 (SMM) – One silicon metal producer in Ya’an, Sichuan Province plans to restart production, Shanghai Metals Market learns.
The producer suspended production for environmental protection inspections, but most of other producers in the region, which halted production for the same reason, have no resumption plans in the near term, according to SMM sources, citing sluggish prices and ongoing unit maintenance. Those producers may wait until after power prices get cheaper.
On March 15, ex-works prices of #553 silicon metal (oxygen free) were between 10,400-10,500 yuan per tonne, and 12,600-12,800 yuan per tonne for #3303 silicon metal.
