SHANGHAI, Jul. 6 (SMM) – Silicon metal producers in major producing regions acted to raise prices after Yunnan producers did so, Shanghai Metals Market learns.

On July 6, silicon metal plants in Chongqing, Guizhou, and Sichuan lifted prices, with port price for #553 up by 100-200 yuan per tonnes. Their price hike echoed price increases by silicon metal producers in Yunnan. 

Overall trading, however, was thin, as price hikes raised market caution.
