CME Group Metals volume shoots up 27% in October

CME group reports that October metals averaged 386,000 contracts per day, up 27% from 304,000 in the same month of 2015.

NEW YORK (Scrap Register): CME group reports that October metals averaged 386,000 contracts per day, up 27% from 304,000 in the same month of 2015. 

Sequentially, last month’s volume was slightly higher than the 383,000 daily average reported for September. 

Highlights last month include a rise of 29% year-on-year in average daily volume for gold futures and options to 224,000 contracts, plus a year-on-year increase of 25% in silver futures and options to 69,000 contracts.

Meanwhile, CME Group lists average daily volume of 395,000 contracts for the three-month period ending with October. 

This was down from 431,000 for the three-month period ending with September, 464,000 for the period ending with August and 488,000 for the period ending with July.
