Vedanta plans to invest 782 million dollars on Gamsberg zinc mine

The Chief Executive Officer of the Vedanta's African Metal Business stated that the new mine will cost about 630 million dollars in order to produce 250,000 tonnes of zinc concentrates per year.

CAPE TOWN (Scrap Monster): The Chief Executive Officer of the Vedanta's African Metal Business, Kishore Kumar stated that,  the new  mine, which will be located in the Northern Cape, at Aggeneys, will cost about 630 million dollars in order to produce, 250,000 tonnes of zinc per year, in concentrates.

150,000 tonnes of the  zinc and manganese concentrates produced in Vedanta's new Gamsberg zinc mine,will be transported to the Skorpion zinc refinery, which is located in Nambia, to be processed.

The remaining of 10,000 tonnes of zinc produced in the mine, would be sold in the open market. The company is also planning to spend 150 million dollars on the Skorpion refinery unit in order to renovate the refinery unit to treat the sulfide concentrates which is carried into the unit through the Gamsberg mine, which is located 360 km away from the refining unit.
