Brazil's pig iron exports rebounded in Sep '14, says data

According to statistics, the pig iron exports by Brazil during the month of September this year rebounded from its lows in August.

SAO PAULO (Scrap Monster): According to statistics, the pig iron exports by Brazil during the month of September this year rebounded from its lows in August.

Brazil's pig iron exports totaled 266,000 during September '14. The total exports were up 20.3% when compared with the exports during September last year. Also, the exports surged by 68.3% from the previous month. The country's pig iron exports had totaled 158,000 tons during the month of August this year.

The largest importer of Brazilian pig iron during September this year was the US. The US imported 161,000 tons of Brazilian pig iron, accounting for more than 60% of the total pig iron exports by the country during the month.

The second largest export destination of Brazilian pig iron was Italy. The country's total pig iron exports to Italy amounted to 48,000 tons. In third place was the Netherlands with total imports of 26,000 tons.

The pig iron exports by the country during the initial nine months of the current year totaled 1.73 million tons. The combined nine-month export figure was down 7.7% when compared with the exports during the corresponding nine-month period in 2013.
