US Raw Steel production up by 2.8% to 1,903,000 net tons

United States domestic raw steel production advanced by 2.8% year-on-year to 1,903,000 net tons in the week ended July 12th this year while the capability utilization rate was 79.1 percent.

NEW YORK (Scrap Register): United States domestic raw steel production advanced by 2.8% year-on-year to 1,903,000 net tons in the week ended July 12th this year while the capability utilization rate was 79.1 percent.

According to AISI, production was 1,852,000 net tons in the week ending July 12, 2013, while the capability utilization then was 77.3 percent.

Production for the week ending July 12, 2014 is up 2.7 percent from the previous week ending July 5, 2014 when production was 1,853,000 net tons and the rate of capability utilization was 77.0 percent.

Adjusted year-to-date production through July 12, 2014 was 50,734 net tons, at a capability utilization rate of 76.6 percent. That is up 0.1 percent from the 50,683 net tons during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 76.8 percent.

Broken down by districts, here's production for the week ending July 12, 2014 in thousands of net tons: North East: 238; Great Lakes: 677; Midwest: 238; Southern: 660 and Western: 90 for a total of 1,903.
