Total nickel ore inventories at China’s five major ports, namely Rizhao, Lanshan, Lianyungang, Tianjin, and Jingtang increased by 187,000 tonnes last week to hit 13.98 million tonnes, SMM data shows.

SHANGHAI, Jun. 23 (SMM) – Total nickel ore inventories at China’s five major ports, namely Rizhao, Lanshan, Lianyungang, Tianjin, and Jingtang increased by 187,000 tonnes last week to hit 13.98 million tonnes, SMM data shows.

11 ships unloaded nickel ore at Lianyungang port last week, with another nine expected this week. These goods were ordered in May and the surge in arrivals will add significantly to nickel ore stocks at the port.

Most shipments arriving Lanshan and Rizhao ports consist of low Ni/high Fe ores ordered by NPI producers. Some NPI plants that had previously left goods at Tianjin port shipped those goods out last week. Details are shown in table below (Unit:1,000 tonnes).
