






TOKYO (Scrap Monster): According to recent statistics released by the Japanese Ministry of Finance (MoF), the country's imports of Stainless Cold Rolled Coils (CRC) surged higher during the month of April when compared with the previous year.
Japan imported 10,214 tons of Stainless CRC during April this year. The imports dropped by 10% when compared with the previous month. The country's imports of Stainless CRC had totaled 11,349 tons during March. However, the April '14 imports were 33% higher over the previous year.
The cumulative Stainless CRC imports by the country during the initial four months of the year totaled 106,601 tons. The imports rose sharply by 34.5% upon comparison with the CRC imports during January to April last year.
The largest exporter of Stainless CRC during the four-month period of the year was Korea. The CRC imports from Korea totaled 90,312 tons, accounting for almost 85% of the total imports by Japan during the period. The imports from Korea recorded 35% growth year-on-year during April '14.
The second biggest exporter of CRC was Taiwan. The country's CRC imports from Taiwan totaled 11,531 tons during January through April. The imports from Taiwan rose significantly higher by 49% over the previous year.
