SHANGHAI, Jul. 1 (SMM) - Jian Xingchao, Vice Minister of Environmental Protection (MEP), announced at a seminar on the development of China’s lead-acid battery and secondary lead sectors that the MEP has completed reviews of 94 producers in these two sectors and that the list of second batch of producers qualified under the new regime will be released soon.

The names of the first 10 lead-acid battery producers qualified after review was released in April.

Li Qiang, from the Consumer Goods Department of the Ministry of Industry & Information Technology (MIIT), added that the 94 manufacturers to have qualified under MEP review should now apply for MIIT industry entrance reviews as the MEP is focused on the discharge of pollutants, while the MIIT’s focus is on monitoring production.
