SHANGHAI, Oct. 16 (SMM) –On the fundamentals side, scrap copper lacked replenishments from imports. As copper futures prices moved higher, domestic scrap copper cargo-holders stepped up sales and alleviated tight market supply somehow, but cannot improve overall supply constraints. In this context, scrap copper prices proved more resilient last week. As post-holiday copper futures prices kept fluctuating, the price differential between scrap and refined copper held virtually stable, and the price spread between bare bright (including tax) and refined copper merely edged down to RMB 1,200-1,500/mt. This meant that scrap copper still had some advantage against refined copper, enticing copper processors to buy scrap copper as a substitution for refined copper.
