South China Aluminum: Prices Edge Down on Weak Demand

The most active SHFE aluminum price opened lower and failed to rise above RMB 15,500/mt Friday.

SHANGHAI, Jul. 13 (SMM) – The most active SHFE aluminum price opened lower and failed to rise above RMB 15,500/mt Friday. In South China, consumption in spot aluminum market remained weak as buyers showed no interest in replenishing prior to weekend. In response, mainstream traded prices dropped to RMB 15,420-15,450/mt, with discount over spot prices in Shanghai reaching RMB 100/mt. Quotations for goods deliverable in SHFE were firm at RMB 15,450/mt given limited supply. Trading was light on the whole.
