Domestic aluminum prices will move between RMB 15500-17500/mt in 2012, while LME aluminum prices will hover between USD 1900-2700/mt.

SHANGHAI, Mar. 23 (SMM) -- Zhang Chenguang, an aluminum analyst from SMM Information & Technology Co., Ltd., said on the 7th China Copper & Aluminum Summit that domestic aluminum prices will move between RMB 15500-17500/mt in 2012, while LME aluminum prices will hover between USD 1900-2700/mt.

Overall economic conditions are pessimistic given uncertainties over the global economic recovery and unresolved European debt crisis despite that China slightly eased the monetary policy at the beginning of 2012.

LME aluminum prices have made strong gains since the start of 2012, but domestic spot aluminum prices lacked upward momentum, and will unlikely experience significant increases in 2012.
