East China Aluminum: Futures Resilient to Declines, Selling Interest Rises

Traded prices of spot aluminum in Shanghai were between RMB 15,960-15,990/mt on Friday.

SHANGHAI, Mar. 23 (SMM) – Traded prices of spot aluminum in Shanghai were between RMB 15,960-15,990/mt on Friday, with discounts of RMB 10-40/mt over the SHFE current-month aluminum price. Low-iron aluminum was traded between RMB 16,060-16,090/mt in Shanghai. Traded prices of spot aluminum in Wuxi were between RMB 15,970-15,990/mt. The SHFE current-month aluminum price opened slightly lower at RMB 15,965/mt and fluctuated up to RMB 16,005/mt despite the slump of LME aluminum prices. Spot prices changed little from the previous trading day with a few traders quoted above RMB 16,000/mt. Cargo holders were actively selling goods while downstream buyers still stayed out of market. Transactions improved slightly.
