LONDON, Feb 20, 2012 (Dow Jones) -- Total world aluminum output fell 2.2% on-month in January following a decline in production in Africa, North America and West Europe, the International Aluminium Institute said Monday.
Primary aluminum production dropped to 2.140 million metric tons from a revised 2.189 million tons in December, the IAI said.
Output was, however, up 0.1% compared with January 2011, when production stood at 2.137 million tons.
Daily output last month averaged 69,000 tons, down from 70,600 tons in December.
