MOSCOW, Oct 06, 2011 (Dow Jones) -- Ukraine exported 1.024 million metric tons of alumina in January to August, 8.9% more than in the corresponding period in 2010, the government reported Thursday.
The exported alumina was worth $331.49 million.
Alumina exports in August totaled 132,000 tons, 2.2% less than in July this year and 14.5% more than in August 2010. The alumina exported in August was worth $43.19 million, 0.3% more than in July. Most alumina was exported to Russia.
In 2010 Ukraine exported 1.44 million tons of alumina, 3.2% more than in 2009.
Alumina in Ukraine is produced by the Mykolaev Alumina Plant and the Zaporozhye Aluminum Combine, both belonging to United Co. Rusal (0486.HK).
