BEIJING, Aug. 5 -- China, the world's fastest growing green energy market, said yesterday that it will invest over RMB 100 billion to support green energy vehicles industry within ten years, as to make China the largest producer in the sector globally, sources reported, citing a development plan made by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China.

The MIIT has completed drafting the development plan for the alternative energy vehicle industry, covering the period from 2011 to 2020.

The development plan is still subject to the final approval of the State Council.

According to the report, China plans to boost its annual production of green energy vehicles to 15 million units by 2020, and build three to five key enterprises specializing in green energy vehicles and related components such as rechargeable batteries.
