SHANGHAI, Aug 12 (SMM) - The ranking of emerging car makers changed drastically in July, with most companies achieving a substantial increase in delivery, except for NIO.
LiAuto delivered 8,589 vehicles in July, surpassing NIO and Xiaopeng and topping the list in terms of delivery volume. The main reason is that its modified models have significantly upgraded hardware and software configuration and improved fuel consumption and driving range, making it more attractive to consumers.
Xiaopeng delivered 8,040 cars in July, ranking the second. The debut of LFP version Xpeng P7, which is cheaper than the old model, boosted sales.
NIO delivered just 7,931 cars in July, 1.9% lower than in June. The delivery volume of NIO was lower than that of LiAuto and Xiaopeng for the first time this year. This is because its rival introduced standard-range Model Y at lower prices and NIO lacks flagship model.
In terms of cumulative sales, NIO still ranked first with a total delivery volume of 49,800 units by relying on its high-quality services and customer loyalty. The gap between LiAuto and Xiaopeng gradually narrowed as LiAuto was catching up quickly. LiAuto may outstrip Xiaopeng in August as the upcoming price cuts of Model3 and BYD Han, the two most powerful rivals of Xiaopeng P7, may have certain impact on sales of Xiaopeng P7. The delivery volume of Hozon Auto and Leap Motor exceeded 6,000 units and 4,000 units respectively in July, achieving 5 consecutive months of increases.
