May 11 (Bloomberg) -- BHP Billiton Ltd., the world's biggest mining company, said its planned Yeelirrie uranium mine in Western Australia has been placed under review due to the Australian government's 40 percent resource profits tax.

The mine will produce 3,500 metric tons a year, Andrew Shook, general manager of Yeelirrie, told delegates at a conference in Perth today. That's down from a previous forecast of 5,000 tons a year.
