BHP Billiton Copper Output Skyrockets in Q2, to Rebound Sharply in 2018

BHP Billiton’s copper output jumped 71% in Q2 2017 on a quarterly basis to 387,400 tonnes, but down 6% on a yearly basis, according to the company’s report.

SHANGHAI, Jun. 25 (SMM) - BHP Billiton’s copper output jumped 71% in Q2 2017 on a quarterly basis to 387,400 tonnes, but down 6% on a yearly basis, according to the company’s report.

Output increased across BHP Billiton’s copper mines. Escondida’s production recovered almost to the level in the same period of 2016 after the strike.

China 10 Nonferrous Metals Output Jumps Sharply January-June, to Maintain Growth in 2017

The company expects its copper production to rebound significantly in 2018. The brownfield project at Los Colorados will kick off in September 2017. Output at Escondida copper mine may grow to 1.13-1.23 million tonnes in 2018 fiscal year.
