SHANGHAI, Feb. 1 (SMM) --
According to data from the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association (CNIA), China's output of nickel concentrate was 5,565 mt in December 2009, down 1.36% MoM, and relatively stable at November levels. YTD output of nickel concentrate was 81.134 kt, up 13.46% YoY. The relatively small growth in output was mainly attributed to the delay until 2H 2008 of the startup of a new Jinchuan Group facility.
According to data from China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association (CNIA), China's output of refined nickel was 17.089 kt in December 2009, up 17.02% MoM. The increase was mainly from refined nickel producers in Guangxi province. YTD output of refined nickel was 164.796 kt, up 28.03% YoY, and mainly from producers which restarted production.
