French Finance Minister Says Europe Should Invest In New Technologies Such As Batteries and Abandon Euro 7 Emission Standards

SHANGHAI, May 31 (SMM) – French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire said Europe should invest in new technologies such as batteries, rather than introduce costly new regulations on vehicle exhaust pollution, the so-called Euro 7 emission standards.

Speaking at the opening of a new battery factory in northern France, Le Maire said the new rules would distract automakers from developing electric vehicles and that "Europe must demonstrate its industrial strength".
