At the 2023 Zhongguancun Forum on May 28, Daniel Yerkin, vice chairman of S&P Global, said that the energy transition will lead to a substantial increase in the demand for mineral resources.

S&P Global estimates that the supply of copper will double, but the time factor poses a huge obstacle to the energy transition.

It is estimated that it will take 16-20 years to mine a large new mine. In fact, that is close to the speed of the 1940s, so the development of sufficient mineral resources is a very important.
