Today, a formal ceremony was held in Shanghai, where Siemens Energy Ltd. and New Zealand-based EnPot Ltd. signed a cooperation agreement with New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon. This agreement marks the joint efforts of the two companies to accelerate the decarbonization process of China's energy-intensive primary aluminum industry.
Under the agreement, EnPot and Siemens Energy will collaborate to provide solutions for aluminum smelters, enabling intelligent energy management and flexible production of aluminum electrolysis. Prime Minister Luxon stated that this cooperation is a model example of successful collaboration between New Zealand and Chinese enterprises, and a step towards decarbonization and a sustainable future.
The technologies of the two companies will complement each other, providing Chinese aluminum producers with a pathway to integrate more renewable energy, improve energy efficiency, and reduce operating costs. Qin Zheng, General Manager of the Industrial Group at Siemens Energy Ltd., stated that they will jointly promote cooperation in the field of intelligent energy management for aluminum electrolysis, accelerate energy efficiency upgrades and low-carbon transformation, and drive sustainable development in the aluminum industry.
