Indonesia, Tajikistan Explore Bilateral Cooperation in Alumina, Palm Oil, and Hydropower

Published: Jun 30, 2025 21:48
Indonesia and Tajikistan explored multiple bilateral cooperation initiatives, including a US$2 billion alumina investment plan. Tajikistan's Prime Minister Kokhir Rasulzoda and Fadrol Rahman, the Ambassador of Indonesia to Kazakhstan and Tajikistan, held relevant discussions. Ambassador Fadrol expressed gratitude for Tajikistan's plan to invest US$2 billion in an alumina processing project in Indonesia and stated that the project would be further expanded based on demand.

This discussion was held in preparation for the upcoming "High-Level International Conference on Glacier Protection." In addition to the alumina industry, Tajikistan also plans to process Indonesian palm oil domestically, producing green products for sale to neighboring countries and border regions of China.

During the talks, Ambassador Fadrol also proposed continuing to advance the cooperation initiatives agreed upon by the two countries at the 2024 Bali World Water Forum, including knowledge and technology exchanges and hydropower investment cooperation. Tajikistan has extensive experience in hydropower, with 90% of its domestic electricity generated from hydropower and exported to neighboring countries.

Currently, the potential of the Kayan River Hydropower Station Project in Bulungan County, North Kalimantan Province, Indonesia, exceeds 13,000 MW, with part of the electricity to be used to support the construction of the new capital city, Nusantara.

Fed to Keep Large Banks' Capital Levels Unchanged, Postpones Stress Test Reforms Until 2027
The US Fed has announced that it will maintain the capital levels of large banks unchanged during the upcoming stress test cycle (corresponding to the 2026 cycle). At the same time, the US Fed is planning multidimensional reforms to this annual test, aiming to enhance its transparency. The US Fed's Vice Chair for Supervision, Bowman, revealed that adjustments to the stress capital buffer requirements for large banks will be postponed until 2027. This move is intended to provide the US Fed with sufficient time to evaluate potential flaws that may be exposed in its testing models when assessing banks' financial conditions under simulated economic downturn scenarios.
