The Serbian Ministry of Energy and Mining has awarded tenders for ten solar and wind projects, with a total capacity of 645MW.

The Serbian Ministry of Energy and Mining has awarded tenders for ten solar and wind projects, with a total capacity of 645MW. The government announced the tender in November 2024, requesting 124.8MW of solar capacity and 300MW of wind capacity. Serbian Minister of Energy and Mining, Dubravka Đedović Handanović, hailed the successful bids as proof of the “extremely successful” tender process.

The winning solar projects were awarded a price of €50.9/MWh, while the wind projects received €53.5/MWh, both significantly lower than the maximum permitted bids of €72/MWh and €79/MWh, respectively. The winning projects will involve an investment of €782 million and the solar tender received a total of 34 applications, demonstrating the strong interest in building new solar capacity in Serbia.

The successful conclusion of the government tender is good news for Serbia's renewable energy sector, especially after discussions on the importance of mechanisms such as Contracts for Difference (CfDs), which were discussed at the Solar Media Large Scale Solar Central Eastern Europe event held in Warsaw last November.
