【SMM Analysis】 There is still room for further decline in the price of storage battery cells, and the iteration of 300+Ah cells is accelerating

Published: May 24, 2024 17:18
In April 2024, the average monthly price of 280Ah square lithium iron phosphate storage battery cell was 0.38 yuan/Wh, a decrease of 8% compared to the previous month; the average monthly price of 100Ah square lithium iron phosphate storage battery cell was 0.44 yuan/Wh, a decrease of 2% compared to the previous month.

According to SMM calculations, as of the end of April, the theoretical cost of 280 energy storage battery cells is 0.341 yuan/Wh. In April, the cost of 280 energy storage battery cells increased slightly due to the rise in prices of lithium iron phosphate cathodes and copper-aluminum, but due to the excessive inventory of battery cell companies and the continued industry overcapacity, the price of 280 energy storage battery cells is under pressure to decline. Looking ahead, although industry inventory has decreased slightly, the iteration of 300+Ah battery cells on the market is accelerating, which may impact the market for 280Ah battery cells. With increased competition among companies, the price of square lithium iron phosphate energy storage 280Ah battery cells may continue to decline.
