The capacity utilisation rates in Shanxi rose in May, mainly contributed by output growth in Fanshi County and production resumption of open-pit mines in Dai County.
The operating rates of mines in northern Shanxi grew. Production resumption in Dai County accelerated after the rotation of leadership team in April. In May, Dai County and Fanshi County issued acceptance notices to some mines and required 9 mining companies to prepare for resumption of work. However, as the supply of explosives in Dai County did not returned to normal, only open-pit mines restarted production.
Explosives supply in Fanshi resumed and several mines increased production. Local small mines did not resume production; the mines in Wutai County and Xinzhou city remained closed.
Operating rates of mines in southern Shanxi remained stable. The operating rates in Fushan area increased, and the output of local mines and beneficiation plants rose after the resumption of production; the local mining enterprises and beneficiation plants in Taiyuan were basically in normal production; the operating rates in Datong area decreased. The local safety inspections in May were stricter and a private mining enterprise stopped production after failing a random inspection of its explosives storehouse.
