SHANGHAI, Jun 6 (SMM) – It is rumoured that Yunnan province, one of China’s top aluminium production hubs, will grant 2 million kw power to local aluminium smelters for them to resume production after being disturbed by power rationing.

SMM survey shows that rainfalls in Yunnan have increased recently, allowing hydropower generation to pick up. Local smelters are now waiting to see when the government will issue notices to allow them to resume production. SMM estimates that a small amount of aluminium capacity may be able to resume in late June.
