SHANGHAI, May 16 (SMM) - The monthly average price of battery-grade lithium hydroxide was 245,368 yuan/mt in April, down 37% MoM. The prices in overseas markets extended the decline.

In April 2023, lithium hydroxide prices crashed. The lithium carbonate prices fell rapidly on sluggish downstream demand during the month, weighing on the lithium hydroxide prices. Besides, the causticising plants offered lower lithium hydroxide prices, compelling smelters to follow suit. The downstream companies mainly restocked on demand amid the dropping lithium hydroxide prices, and the lithium hydroxide market was in a supply surplus.
