SHANGHAI, Aug 25 (SMM) - Ge Honglin, a member of the Standing Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and president of the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association, said that under the "carbon peaking and neutrality" target, the non-ferrous metals recycling industry is endowed with new development opportunities.
China's non-ferrous metal consumption has long exceeded half of the world's total, and the country has accumulated a large amount of recyclable aluminium, copper and other "urban mineral" resources. It is expected that during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, China will produce 15 million mt of new non-ferrous metals scrap such as aluminium and copper scrap every year. In this way, the reuse of domestic scrap resources will provide strong support for the goal of independent supply, and the non-ferrous metal recycling industry will gain new development momentum.
