Lithium Carbonate Prices Lost 10,000 Yyuan/mt in a Single Day and Fell below Lithium Hydroxide Prices

SHANGHAI, Apr 22 -According to SMM data, the spot prices of domestic battery-grade lithium carbonate fell further to 467,000-484,000 yuan/mt yesterday, with the average price down 10,000 yuan/mt.

SHANGHAI, Apr 22 -According to SMM data, the spot prices of domestic battery-grade lithium carbonate fell further to 467,000-484,000 yuan/mt yesterday, with the average price down 10,000 yuan/mt. Prices of domestic battery-grade lithium hydroxide also dropped to 473,000-484,000 yuan/mt, with a single-day drop of 6,000 yuan/mt.

The average spot price of battery-grade lithium carbonate (475,500 yuan/mt) was significantly lower than that of battery-grade lithium hydroxide (478,500 yuan/mt).

Growing domestic output and concentrated port arrivals after delayed shipments added to oversupply pressure. Demand continued to decline. Some small and medium-sized smelters cut offers further, but failed to attract buyers. Given poor demand, the price of lithium carbonate will still have room to fall.

Strong overseas demand encouraged large lithium hydroxide smelters to hold offers firmly, but domestic demand was poor under the impact of pandemic. The price of lithium hydroxide may decline slightly, dragged down by lithium carbonate prices.
