Indonesian Government Supports EVs Battery Plan, the Demand for Nickel to Increase

SHANGHAI, Dec 31 (SMM) - President Joko of Indonesia is very optimistic that the development of EV batteries will be carried out in accordance with the plan of the Indonesian government. The government is working closely with investors engaged in the battery industry and automobile companies. It is also committed to improving domestic technology to support the EV battery program.

Transport Minister Budi Carria Sumadi’s visit to the University of Nottingham in the United Kingdom is also related to the EV project. Minister Budi Karya Sumadi hopes to cooperate with Northam University in the field of low-carbon transportation research.

Other countries are also increasing the procurement and manufacturing of EVs.

With the development of EV procurement and manufacturing, the demand for nickel as a raw material for manufacturing will definitely increase. Indonesia, as the world's largest nickel producer, will benefit from the increase in nickel demand. Scientists from the United States, Hungary, and the Netherlands have been trying to manufacture EVs on a small scale since the 18th century.

 The EVs invented by scientists have now been mass-produced by electric industry manufacturers around the world, including Indonesia.
