SHANGHAI, Aug 31 (SMM) – According to customs data, China's aluminium plate/sheet and strip exports in July 2021 were 262,400 mt, an increase of 11% month-on-month and 53% year-on-year.

The increase in the export was mainly reflected in 76612220 (aluminium alloy rectangular plates and sheets, thickness between 0.2 mm and 0.28 mm) and 76061251/9 (aluminium-plastic composite aluminium alloy rectangular plates and sheets, thickness between 0.35mm and 4mm / other aluminium alloy rectangular plates and sheets, thickness between 0.35mm and 4mm), rising by 5,500 mt and 12,100 mt respectively.

Henan, Shandong, Jiangsu, Zhejiang remain the major export provinces. In Henan, the power curtailment, floods, pandemic, and other incidents that occurred in late July did not have a significant impact on the export of aluminium in July, but the exports in August and September may be affected by these factors coupled with the power rationing in August.

By country, the top ten importers of China’s aluminium plate/sheet and strip July were Mexico, Canada, South Korea, Vietnam, the United States, Thailand, Australia, Nigeria, Malaysia, and the Britain, largely unchanged from June. The exports to Britain registered a biggest month-on-month increase by 91.66% to 7,400 mt in July. The exports to Thailand and Australia increased by 60.32% and 32.61% respectively.

Aluminium plate/sheet and strip companies have reported that the orders at home and abroad were quite abundant despite the off-season. However, the power curtailment, flood, and pandemic significantly suppressed the operating rates in Henan, and the transportation was severely blocked. The exports in August is expected to be lower on the month. The total exports through the year is likely to stand high amid the the srong demand.
