Successful Commissioning of Upgraded Stainless Steel Slab Continuous Caster in Wuzhou Xinfeng Special Steel

SHANGHAI, Aug 25 (SMM) - Wuzhou Xinfeng Special Steel’s continuous caster of stainless steel slab with two operation units and two pouring systems saw output on August 24, and the machine was running orderly.

It marked the successful upgrade and transformation of the company’s stainless steel slab caster, which was designed and supplied by Bohai Metallurgy Group.

After the upgrade, the cross-section area of the continuous caster is expanded from 150X600~740 mm to 180X600~850 mm, and the arc radius of the casting machine is increased from 6 metres to 7 metres.

Due to the limited plant area, the lift of the hydraulic elevator was 1.4 metres. The original mechanical vibration was changed to servo-hydraulic non-sinusoidal vibration.

The design concept of rapid replacement of curved section, arc-shaped section 1, and arc-shaped section 2 is adopted, and the four-stand tension leveller was applied.

The structure platform of the continuous caster was lifted by 1.4 metres within 24 hours.

The contracted transformation period was 15 days, so the civil construction and equipment installation were carried out simultaneously to speed up the progress. All equipment was installed for commissioning within 13 days. It laid a solid foundation for the company’s higher productivity, better product structure, and the high-quality development.
