SMM9, March 7: Tony Wenas, CEO of Freeport Indonesia branch (PT Freeport Indonesia), said at an online meeting on Friday that as Grasberg copper and gold mines gradually shift to underground mining, copper sales are expected to jump to 1.4 billion pounds and gold sales will increase to 1.4 million ounces in 2021.

However, it expects copper and gold sales this year to be lower than in previous years.

Grasberg Copper and Gold Mine, owned by Freeport, is fully shifting to underground mining and is expected to complete the transition by 2022.
