SMM: on Sept. 2, the environmental information disclosure platform of Shanghai enterprises and institutions showed that the environmental impact assessment report on the early start-up project of new models of Tesla's Shanghai super factory has been filed with the Shanghai Port area Development and Construction Management Committee, which means that the Shanghai super factory will start the preparatory work for the production of Model Y.
According to the EIA report, the planning EIA for the early start-up project of the new model has been carried out and has passed the review of the Shanghai Environmental Protection Bureau. The construction period is expected to be six months and the completion time is March 2021, but the total amount of investment in the project is not disclosed. Tesla Automobile Hong Kong Co., Ltd.
According to the EIA report, the project will carry out tests and research related to the start-up of new models in the existing plant, and the project will only carry out experiments on important equipment and production processes, verification of product dimensions and functional matching of parts and components. Although this project is an experimental project, the amount of water-based paint used in the painting experimental process accounts for more than 80% of the total coating amount. Except for the varnish, all other coatings use water-based coatings, and the VOCs content of the adhesive is less than 5%.
Tesla mentioned in the EIA report that the early start-up project of the new model is to meet the experiment of foreign process localization, mainly considering that the integrated formed aluminum alloy base plate used in the new model replaces the stamping and welding of more than 50 parts of the traditional vehicle, and the integrated forming base plate reduces the amount of solder joint and glue coating (undisclosed specific quantity) compared with the traditional punching and welding workshop, which is the first case in the world. In addition, the introduction of new models needs to go through the start-up phase, and a certain debugging period is needed according to the early Model 3 and the commissioning of key equipment in North America.
