Silicon social inventories rose 4,000 mt on week

Social inventories of silicon metal in China edged higher this week as producers in Yunnan stepped up operations.

SHANGHAI, August 28 (SMM) – Social inventories of silicon metal in China edged higher this week as producers in Yunnan stepped up operations.

SMM data showed that stocks across Huangpu port, Kunming city and Tianjin port stood at 64,000 mt as of Friday August 28, 4,000 mt higher from a week ago.

Stocks at Huangpu and Tianjin ports held largely unchanged on the week, with cargoes in and out of port warehouses basically in balance.

Social inventories of lead ingots across Shanghai, Guangdong, Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Tianjin increased 12,500 mt from the prior week and rose 9,600 mt from July 5 to 143,500 mt as of Friday July 9, hitting a record high since January 2015, an SMM survey showed.
