SMM: following the news that Tesla Model Y will use heat pump air conditioning in March, according to the latest news from foreign media, Tesla Model 3 will also usher in a configuration upgrade, or it will be equipped with the same heat pump air conditioning thermal management system as Model Y, which will effectively enhance the mileage of Model 3 in cold weather.

The electric vehicle air-conditioning system is essentially different from the traditional fuel vehicle in technology, and it has not formed a mature solution in the absolute sense, and there is still much room for improvement under the drive of improving efficiency and reducing cost in the industry.

The heat source of the fuel vehicle comes from the heat dissipation when the engine is working, while the electric vehicle can not use the waste heat cycle of the motor, so it can only generate the heat by itself, that is, the PTC and heat pump currently used. The reason why the electric vehicle air-conditioning system is important is that the electric vehicle air-conditioning system has a significant impact on the vehicle mileage.

Domestic research shows that the energy consumption of electric vehicles is mainly composed of air conditioning resistance, rolling resistance, air resistance and energy consumption of electrical and mechanical components, of which air conditioning loss accounts for up to 33%. And indoor air heating and air conditioning consume the most energy. Heat pump will gradually replace PTC as the mainstream air-conditioning system, the core reason is the significant difference in heating efficiency between the two modes.

The technology of heat pump air conditioning for new energy vehicles abroad is applied earlier than that at home. Major international car companies, including Tesla, Volkswagen, Audi, Renault, BMW, Nissan and other brands have been mass-produced and loaded. Cinda Securities believes that, taking into account the stricter environmental protection and thermal efficiency gap, the CO2 heat pump route is expected to become the mainstream, a larger alternative space.

Anxin Securities analyst Li Zhe said that the market space of CO2 air-conditioning system will reach 12.7 billion yuan in 2025, and manufacturers with forward-looking layout may be the first to benefit. At present, FAW-Volkswagen has issued a tender for the procurement of CO2 equipment for the MEB project, and the permeability of CO2 heat pumps in MEB models is expected to continue to improve.

Among domestic companies, parts companies in the field of heat pump systems, including Sanhua Intelligent Control, Silver Wheel shares, Aotejia, Clay Mechatronics, Huayu Automobile and so on, are actively arranging heat pump air conditioning system parts. Combined with their own competitive advantages, each company lays out the core link of the heat pump air conditioning system industry chain, while some companies gradually expand the development of the overall product of the heat pump air conditioning system.
