China issued 9th batch of metals scrap import quotas for 2020

China's environmental authorities on Monday issued the ninth batch of copper, aluminium and steel scrap import quotas for 2020, which was the largest since April.

SHANGHAI, Jul 7 (SMM) – China's environmental authorities on Monday issued the ninth batch of copper, aluminium and steel scrap import quotas for 2020, which was the largest since April.

 

The China Solid Waste and Chemicals Management Bureau, a unit of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, granted import allowances for 176,746 mt of high-grade copper scrap and 209,660 mt of aluminium scrap.

 

That took the rally for the year to 718,500 mt for copper scrap and 693,659 mt for aluminium scrap.

 

The scrap management bureau also issued 4,990 mt of import quotas for steel scrap in the last batch, bringing the cumulative amount for this year to 16,530 mt.
